Newly elected Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghail is at the centre of a bitter local row over who should replace his running mate on Kildare County Council.

Supporters of first-time TD Fiona O'Loughlin believe that the Ó Fearghail camp scuppered the chances of her preferred candidate at a selection convention last Saturday.

It is normal practice that a councillor who becomes a TD is given the opportunity to co-opt their replacement.

It is understood that Ms O'Loughlin favoured long-time party activist Anne Duggan Connolly, but votes piled in for Murty Aspell, who was seen as the favourite candidate of Mr Ó Fearghail.
Two other candidates, Noel Heavey and Ger Elwood, were also on the ballot paper.

As Ceann Comhairle, Mr Ó Fearghail is guaranteed a seat in the Kildare South constituency at the next election and, as such, is expected to steer clear of party politics. But a source said: "It was known that Fiona wanted Anne Duggan Connolly, who has over 30 years in Fianna Fáil, held officer board positions, worked with the GAA, schools and in other community groups.
"But the Ó Fearghail side made sure to get Mr Aspell elected. They just didn't need to do it, but they encouraged people to vote that way."

Mr Aspell was previously involved in a court case involving Newbridge Credit Union over an unpaid loan of €61,000, but says that the issue was now 'sorted.'
Murty Aspell was an Independent town councillor in Newbridge and rejoined Fianna Fáil last year after an absence of a number of years.  Mr Aspell said he was sure the new TD's preferred candidate would be "disappointed".
But he added: "I'm my own man. Nobody else put me forward. It was a democratic vote and I got across the line.
"Certainly, I wasn't aware of any rumblings going on in the background."

Is Fíanna Fáil Cronyism truly a thing of the past or has Ireland yet to see the Soldiers of Destiny in action ?

Secret Uranium site near Kyiv hit by Russian Missile

A Russian missile has destroyed a depot of depleted uranium near Kyiv! Uranium depot near Kyiv  The Russian armed forces have struck an ammunition depot on the outskirts of Kyiv, in Vishnevoe, where sub-calibre rounds with a depleted uranium-238 core and cluster bombs were stored.  Due to the threat of radioactive contamination, an emergency evacuation of residents in the area has begun, and the entire incident site has been completely cordoned off by the Ukrainian secret services. In other news regarding Ukraine:  Ukraine finally releases geolocations of soldiers in Konstantinvka - but the damage from Russia's claimed capture is already done: Unlike at Pokrovsk, there is no indication yet of a coordinated counterattack to reclaim parts of the city altogether. Furthermore, simply publishing geolocated videos of Ukrainian servicemen at all amounts to an admission that the Russian territorial claims have gained Western credulity which Kyiv must counteract. Another key...

The West Fears A Strong United Iran.

Why Do Millions Unite at Iran’s Supreme Leader Funeral... And Why Does the West Panic? Millions of Iranians attend the Funeral of The Great Ayatollah Ali Khamenei    Look at the huge crowds in Tehran right now. Millions of people marching together, showing real unity after their leader’s death. Is this just a funeral?  No. This is Iran proving it is a real civilisation-state.  Deep history, strong faith, tight families, and national pride. These things hold them together no matter what the outside world throws at them. Why does the West fear this so much?  Because Iran is a living rejection of their globalist plan.  They want to destroy everything solid: open borders that erase countries, broken families, mocked religion, weak nation-states, and confused ideas about gender and truth.  They push this everywhere to control people more easily. But Iran says no.  They hit Iran with attacks and sanctions, yet the people stay united and strong....

Where have all the Flowers gone?

As the songs goes; where have all the flowers gone? Well we may be asking that in the near future.   One-third of Ireland’s 99 wild bee and butterfly species are currently threatened with extinction. Driven by human-altered landscapes and intensive land use, this crisis threatens native food production and natural ecosystems. Saving these essential pollinators requires restoring vital habitats across farms, gardens, and public spaces. [ According to the Heritage Council ].    The Root Causes:  The primary driver behind the decline of Ireland's bees and butterflies is habitat loss and starvation. As the landscape has become increasingly urbanized and modernized, insects simply do not have enough flowers to feed on or safe places to nest.  Key factors include: Agricultural Intensification:  The shift toward larger, chemical-reliant fields, the drainage of wet areas, and the removal of traditional, flower-rich hedgerows have decimated natural habitats. Th...
